A splendid George iii style ormolu-mounted and quarter veneer inlaid bombe Royal Commode after the model by cabinet-maker Pierre Langlois, Circa 1760-1765 which probably made for Princess Amelia of Great Britain (d.1786)

With a lavish use of ormolu-mounting; The ormolu-bound serpentine-fronted top is marble topped and molded with large ormolu Egg-and-Dart cornice above two long drawers mounted with large rosettes and cornucopia handles with diaper and mask backplates, all within cabochon and acanthus borders, the apron is ornamented with very fine central ormolu Zephyr-mask flanked by scrolling acanthus, the voluted legs headed by a large detailed acanthus leaves mounts and a central ormolu hammered strip along the leg ending in scrolled feet on brass ball supports adorned excessively with acanthus leafy works, the concave sides similarly paneled and mounted with a rosette within foliate borders.
