A fascinating French Empire style gilt-ormolu-mounted veneer inlaid Pedestal on the manner of Jacob Desmalter

The inset marble top within a moulded fluting frieze above a conforming slightly concaved apron decorated with winged mythological creatures ormolu mounts and anthemion ormolu mounts on each corner, all on a twisted ormolu band.

The top rests on fine and intricately chiseled four winged caryatid pilasters, each headed by a head and winged bust of a beautiful Egyptian female figure wearing a royal Egyptian headdress over ringlet hair, set on an angular plinth with beaded base and four ornamental acanthus foliage to each side, upon a slightly tapering pilasters support terminate with leaf-and-dart ormolu frame and issue a palmette, all point to a central pinecone rosettes. The four pilasters rest on a concave sided bottom tier ornate with ormolu palmettes and flower rosettes on the angular spas and raised on ormolu female feet.
